When you work a 1 by 1 cable it is often much easier to work it on the needles instead of using a cable needle.
1 by 1 Right Cross
- Knit into the second stitch, leaving all stitches on the left needle.
- Knit into the first stitch.
- Slip both stitches off the left needle.
1 by 1 Left Cross
- Knit into the back of the second stitch on the needle.
- Knit into the first stitch.
- Slip both stitches off the left needle.
